“The Batman” shooting stopped due to Corona: Robert Pattinson infected [update from update]

“The Batman” lead actor Robert Pattinson tested positive for the coronavirus. The shooting was then stopped – and should still be, despite reports to the contrary.

If you walk through the inner city of Berlin, where the office is located (but still works from home), you can easily get the impression that the corona pandemic is over, given the careless behavior of various fellow citizens. But it is not – and Hollywood is now noticing that too.

In Great Britain, where the shooting of “The Batman” has only just started again after the Corona break, they have to pause again. How u. a. the industry magazine Variety reports, a crew member tested positive for the corona virus. The person concerned is now in quarantine and filming has been temporarily interrupted.

Update, Sept. 3: Vanity Fair, citing an inside source, reports that Robert Pattinson is the person who tested positive. The main actor is infected with it.

Another break

It is not known how long the new interruption will last and whether it will have an impact on the start date. The theatrical release of “The Batman” had already been postponed to September 30, 2021 after Hollywood had stopped all filming due to the corona pandemic. The “Batman” crew still has a lot ahead of them: They say that there are still three months to shoot YESmovies.

The decisive factor will now be whether the virus has also spread to other crew members or whether it is an individual case. In any case, many scenes will not be able to be shot without the main actor Pattinson.

Update, September 4: As the Daily Mail reports, director Matt Reeves is said to have resumed filming after the short break. While Robert Pattinson remains in quarantine for two weeks, as many scenes as possible should be shot without him. Body doubles should be used.

Update, September 5th: As Variety claims to have found out from a studio insider, the information in the Daily Mail is probably not true. Accordingly, one will not continue without Pattinson for the time being. “The Batman” shoot is currently still paused.

Incidentally, it was different with “Jurassic World 3”: As Deadline writes, citing local reports, four members of the crew in Malta had tested positive. Those affected had gone into quarantine, but the second unit crew working in Malta had been reduced so that the shooting could continue.

A trailer has already been released for “The Batman”, in which a very grim Dark Knight has to solve a mysterious series of murders, although director Matt Reeves only had a quarter of his footage in the can:
